auto-loans Vehicle Title Release

The lien on your vehicle financed with Tampa Bay Federal Credit Union has been satisfied.  The title will remain electronic unless you request that a paper title be printed.  The State of Florida decided that electronically maintaining the title to the vehicle eliminates the risk of loss and having to pay fees to obtain a duplicate title. It also reduces the risk of fraud.

If you are the vehicle owner, you do not need a paper title when trading your vehicle with a Florida dealership.  For other sales or trades, you may request the paper title after 3 business days of the lien being released by visiting the

Division of Motor Vehicles

The state does charge a small fee to request the paper title online.  The title is generally mailed within two business (2) days of the request.  You may also visit your local county tax collector office to obtain a paper title.  Many tax collectors offices offer same day title printing for a small minimal fee.

If you have any questions concerning this process, you may contact your local county tax collector’s office or the State of Florida DMV Customer Service Center at 850.617.2000.
